DAR Purpose
DAR membership is open to any woman of 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who is able to prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
DAR members include 170,000 women in 3,000 chapters across the United States and internationally.
DAR awards $150,000 in scholarships and financial aid each year to high school and college students. Washington State DAR gives out about $275,000 annually on their own.
DAR supports schools for the underprivileged with annual donations exceeding $1,000,000.
DAR supports the men and women of the United States Military through programs such as Project Patriot.
DAR promotes American History Education through student essay contests and museum programs.
DAR members volunteer more than 55,000 hours annually to assist veterans.
DAR members work to preserve local landmarks and historic structures across the country.
